Smart City Deploys BroadHop SME In Hospitality IP Networks
Rollout includes more than 35,000 hotel rooms and hotspots in Central Florida

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.(Sept. 14, 2005) – Smart City Telecom, the service leader in hospitality telecommunications has deployed the BroadHop Service Management Engine (SME) to integrate voice, data and video services on a common infrastructure. BroadHop SME will power network services in more than 35,000 hotel rooms and hotspots in the world leading resort parks of Central Florida .

Smart City was looking to leverage Cisco’s Service Exchange framework to enable the integration and deployment of “triple-play” voice, video and data services on a common infrastructure, therefore Smart City selected Cisco’s Service Selection Gateway (SSG) router infrastructure.

BroadHop’s pre-integration with Cisco’s Service Exchange platform allowed Smart City to rapidly upgrade and expand its vast resort-based broadband wired and wireless solutions at a low cost in less than one month. Smart City provide Public LAN services in hotel guest rooms, meeting rooms, lobbies, common areas, resorts, theme-parks, convention centers, downtown areas and malls.

BroadHop’s Service Management Engine provides Smart City with a centralized service management capability for rapid service deployment and new revenue opportunities. As the intelligence layer in the network, BroadHop enables policy control, service creation, service authentication, payments and billing, a Portal for subscriber self-provisioning and value-added services, web-based customer care tools, reporting and administrative security.

BroadHop’s Service Management Engine has allowed Smart City ’s customers to dramatically reduce the amount of time it would normally take to deploy new services and product offerings,” said Rita Henry, Director of Business Development for Smart City . “That’s good news for Smart City and our customers, as we will be able to start realizing the associated cost savings and new revenue streams sooner than previously possible.”

“We are pleased to be supporting Smart City , a leader in IP services, with the ability to make its broadband networks user-programmable,” said William Diotte, BroadHop’s CEO. “With Central Florida experiencing explosive growth, Smart City is well positioned to grow its leadership position in resort broadband services.”
