Applications and Services

With BroadHop policy control products, service providers can control their network, enabling the specific applications and services required for their unique needs:

Solve the smartphone congestion problem
To ensure a good quality of experience for subscribers, BroadHop brings an unprecedented level of control to network resources when bandwidth availability is constrained. By building an interactive two-way experience, BroadHop's policy control suite sets customer expectations and provides them with information about the current network conditions. With BroadHop solutions, service providers can automatically communicate the resources available on the network in real time, allowing subscribers to choose from available services and suggesting alternative ways to access what they need or alternative pricing models for access.

User controlled schedules
When this feature is activated, parents or businesses can limit access to certain services during specific times of the day and apply content filtering. They can also quickly design, launch, and enforce special promotions, including bandwidth on demand or 'turbo button' services.

Network congestion control
Using real-time information from the access network, the BroadHop policy control products minimize network congestion by restricting usage based on user class. When fair usage is activated, the service provider defines indicators that automatically reduce the bandwidth for a particular service or user, optimizing the load on network resources and user experiences for all subscribers in real time. With time-of-day services, service providers can limit basic users during certain hours, and release them outside of peak hours when there is excess capacity on the network. Or, service providers can block or limit certain services, such as streaming video or peer-to-peer networking during specific times.

Turnkey, cloud-based policy control
Service providers who are delivering applications through cloud-based computing need policy control to align these services with subscriber accounts. BroadHop policy control products automatically match user contracts and requirements with the cloud-based services, allowing service providers to control, monetize and personalize the services, regardless of whether they are housed by the service provider or a third-party.

Service and User Differentiation
The BroadHop policy control solutions automatically allocate the appropriate quality of service depending on the activity of the subscriber and the access technology.

Service Bundling
With this feature, service providers can manage services as a bundle. They can also rapidly create 'tiered' services, offering diversified packages to appeal to a broad range of subscribers.

Charging Policies
This feature provides service providers with a range of charging policies, including postpaid/prepaid and hourly, daily, or monthly data passes.

Roaming Services
With BroadHop, providers can rapidly enact roaming controls, allow or restrict services depending on geography, track variable billing schemes that are based on location, and set up home-zone charging plans.

Security Policy Management
Service providers can build a security policy, including firewalls and content filtering. For example, the service policy could include parental controls, time of day policies, intelligent congestion management, peer-to-peer control or blocking, and session or service steering.
